  • A persistent cough.

  • Nasal discharge – not just your dog's normal wet nose.

  • Fever.

  • Eye discharge – look for goopy, mucus-like discharge or a noticeable increase if your dog normally has eye discharge.

  • Reduced appetite.

  • Reduced activity, lethargy.

 

Can dog flu kill my dog?

Most of the dogs having a dog flu don't die. But Canine Influenza Virus can cause many more dangerous diseases like pneumonia. Older dogs and puppies have a high chance of dying if they have severe dog flu.

 

What breeds suffer from Dog Flu(Canine Influenza Virus) the most?

All the dogs are equally at risk. There are no such dog breeds that specifically suffer from dog flu. But dogs with smushed face like pugs, french bulldog and Pekinese may have a tough time dealing with the flu.

 

What is the treatment of dog flu?

Dogs need a lot of rest and fluids, hence make sure that your pet gets time to recover and it gets plenty of water to drink. Antibiotics will be prescribed for your dog by the vet.

If in case you feel your dog is sick, keep it away from the other dogs and avoid dogs parks, kennels etc.
